Olafadeke Akeju is the Managing Partner of WYS Solicitors, Nigeria’s first gaming specialist firm, and a trailblazer in the gaming industry. Her journey began in 2008 as the inaugural Legal Adviser and Board Secretary of the Lagos State Lotteries Board (now Lagos State Lotteries and Gaming Authority), where she was instrumental in formalizing Nigeria’s gaming sector.
She later served as Special Adviser to the Director-General of the National Lottery Regulatory Commission, spearheading reforms in revenue generation, licensing, and compliance reporting. With nearly two decades of experience, Olafadeke has been pivotal in policy formulation, legislative development, and establishing licensing frameworks at both state and national levels, cementing her reputation as a key figure in Africa’s gaming industry.
A lawyer, certified personnel manager, and chartered secretary, Olafadeke holds an MBA and a postgraduate degree in Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics. She also leads the gaming department at SteelRose Legal, UK, serving as Legal Counsel and Partner (Africa), where she provides strategic guidance to stakeholders entering African markets and institutes corporate governance and compliance practices.
